Microsoft is developing a much rumoured, much anticipated Mobile Office suite for iOS and Android, reports have confirmed.

According to “several sources close to Microsoft’s plans”, the software giant is hard at work in bringing its Word, PowePoint and Excel applications to the rival platforms, despite claims that it might decide to shun them to give its own Windows Phone operating system a competitive advantage.

Microsoft has already told The Verge that the news is in fact true, stating: “Office will work across Windows Phone, iOS and Android."

A press release from its Czech Republic arm confirmed that Office for iOS app will be available from March 2013, followed by an Android app in May. Users will require a Microsoft account for access to a read-only version of the app and a Microsoft 365 subscription for editing functionality.

SkyDrive integration for synchronising and accessing files over cloud is also expected.

What remains unknown is whether this will be a scaled back mobile edition or full-fledged software that features the sort of advanced capabilities available on the desktop applications. In any case, the news should be boon for iFans and Fandroids who like to work on the move.

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

GBA4iOS, the Game Boy Advance emulator games on iPhone, iPod and iPad should indeed return to iOS. While the update iOS 8.1 Apple left little chance of survival with clogged faults, the developer of the emulator has announced a new method allowed to enjoy the games without jailbreak.

Riley Testut behind the project and the emulator has announced that the first open beta stamped GBA4iOS 2.1 is now available for download. In order to take advantage of Game Boy Advance games, however, it will go through a company certificate, a method that can be daunting one given the latest news from Attack Mask (read: wire lurker virus that threatens iOS).

To prove his good faith, Riley Testut released the source code for the program that we can take a look and / or install everything manually. Finally, once out of its beta phase, GBA4iOS 2.1 will be published on Cydia for jailbroken devices users to enjoy.

Smartphones news update 2012 Google Android 4 2 update rolling out for HTC One Dual Sim 0212640000

HTC created a special Dual Sim version of its HTC One flagship, which is limited to several markets like India, China and Russia. Strangely enough this is also the first One variant to receive Android 4.2.2 (not counting the Nexus Edition), the worldwide version of the flagship is still on 4.1.2.
The update brings a number of improvements to both the Android base and HTCs customizations. Theres a widget-enabled lockscreen, quick toggles in the notification area plus smaller enhancements like rearranging homescreen panes, battery percentage in the status bar, options for the Home button to remove the on-screen Menu button.
The Camera and Zoe apps were improved too – now you get AE/AF lock, an updated Zoe file format that handles videos better and 6 new themes for Video highlights.

The update weighs in at 175MB and is only for the dual-SIM version of the phone. The update for the regular HTC One should come out soon. This might be HTC playing it safe, first releasing the update for the rarer One Dual Sim to make sure there are no issues before launching for the the more popular HTC One.

Foxconn says iPhone 5 is the most difficult device it has ever built Dr Mobiles Limited Auckland New Zealand

Still can’t get an iPhone 5? It might be Apple’s (AAPL) fault and not just a display production shortage. According to The Wall Street Journal, a Foxconn official who wished to remain anonymous said the “iPhone 5 is the most difficult device that Foxconn has ever assembled” and even now, workers are still learning how to manufacture the smartphones to meet Apple’s high standards.

The anonymous Foxconn official went on to say that the iPhone 5 “uses a new coating material that makes it more susceptible to scratching” and that it is much more difficult to meet quality checks. Since the iPhone 5 launched last month, Apple has caught flak for shipping smartphones with scuffs and scratches on the devices.
“It’s always hard to satisfy both aesthetic needs and practical needs,” said the Foxconn official.

Foxconn made headlines again on Tuesday after it reported that it had discovered underage interns working at its Yantai facility in the Shandong Province in China.

Apple Pay demonstration of a payment with iPhone 6

Apple Pay was officially launched in the United States, Americans can pay with their iPhone 6 in several shops. Several major retailers are partners with Apple as McDonalds, Subway, Disney, Sephora, or Target. The full list is much longer.
Apple Pay: demonstration of a payment with an iPhone 6
payment with iPhone 6
Users flocked to test Apple Pay once iOS 8.0.1 available. In fact, the update of iOS is required to use the service Apple payment. Its very fast. When paying, the cashier has to choose Apple Pay instead of credit card. The iPhone will automatically detect and wake up near a payment with integrated NFC chip. The user must then approach his smartphone terminal and put his finger on Touch ID for the fingerprint is recognized. In the space of two or three seconds, the transaction is completed.

Apple did not release on availability internationally, if not wanting to do "as soon as possible." If you believe Visa, one of Apples supplier and major credit card partners, Apple Pay could land in 2015 in Europe. This is at least the current schedule to see how Apple will manage to negotiate.

In the United States, some retailers do not accept (for now) Apple Pay. This is the case of Wal-Mart in particular. Apple will also negotiate with merchants in Europe and in the world to launch its payment service.

Why You Should Not Leave Facebook For Google — Top Reasons and Issues

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Its not really a question if Google+ is popular but rather, is it already popular across the netizens around the world? As you can see, several reports have surfaced that not only the new social-networking is only concentrated on men, it appears G+ still haven’t penetrated the large teen group as well as the non-techie individuals who composed the tens of millions of users in Facebook.

Google_users_20_million

If you’ve been following the news for Google Plus this week, the company officially announced last Wednesday it already acquired 10 million users and up to a billion of items shared everyday. The issue here is, it’s purely concentrated on men of the industry who are overexposed on the latest tech news. How about those average people whom you just encounter at local places? – Well, chances are they don’t know Google+ yet and still using Facebook.

This is the number one reason why Facebook still remains the omnipotent social-network site but of course, we shouldn’t be too hard on Google+ since its about to reach its third week only. Who knows how many amazing features Big G is planning to rollout on Plus for the next month to come, not to mention the service is still in beta.

I’m not going to beat behind the bush here. Deleting your Facebook account and moving to Google+ could be the most senseless and unwise move you could ever possibly do on your social-media life since the latter service is still growing, unfinished, and like a half-baked cake that still need to be put on the oven. In our previous report, we revealed our top 6 wishlist to drastically improve G+. In addition to that, I believe that as soon as Google introduce this service on the mainstream, it should collaborate with other social-media groups to advertise it even more.

Until I’ve heard my non-techie friends here wanting to join Google+, my Facebook account will always be here.
